About ImbibrosEstablished in 2004, Imbibros was founded by colleagues from one of London's most prominent Wine Merchants. With many years in the trade between us we share a wealth of experience, but in a world of conformity we are not afraid to take a risk.
Our philosophy is quite simple: to source wines because they demonstrate the character and independence that we demand. Wines which deliver quality and individuality regardless of price. Terrific everyday wines, New World icons, established classics - they all have a place in our selection. Within a year of starting business, our rapid growth required us to establish a dedicated warehouse. The Rickyard is a converted barn from where we manage all aspects of storage and despatch. Customers are welcome to visit, and we regularly host tasting events in the warehouse environment. At the end of 2008 we opened our first dedicated retail shop in Farnham, which is an oasis of calm and serenity in the exclusive Lion and Lamb Yard. Do come and visit us! James Connolly![]() James began his career working in the restaurant and hospitality business, becoming part of the management team of a small luxury hotel group in London. He carried his commitment to excellence in customer service into the wine trade where he has specialised in both operational control and sales development. In 1999 James was invited to be a member of the Champagne Academy and remains passionate about the region and its wines.
Paul Young![]() After graduating from Nottingham University, Paul moved to Melbourne where he claims to have developed extensive consumer wine experience. He returned to London to qualify as a chartered accountant, and then worked for 10 years with Lloyds TSB in financial control and business development focusing on derivatives trading and subsequently on-line retail banking. “Seeing the light” in 2004 he briefly joined the team at La Reserve, before refocusing his business development experience into Imbibros.
A judge with the International Wines and Spirits Competition, Paul ensures that Imbibros’ wines meet the excellent standards demanded by our customers. Chris Wood![]() Chris joined the team at Imbibros during February 2010. Having graduated from Exeter University in 2007, Chris began his career in Central London with a national wine specialist. During this time he enrolled upon the WSET Diploma and will graduate in Summer 2011 having already passed the Advanced Certificate.
Karl McCulloch Having graduated in 2007, Karl went travelling and landed a role as assistant manager of a cocktail bar in Sydney. The venue was re-branded as a fine dining destination restaurant 'et voila' his career in the trade began.Armed with the experience of working with an extensive and exclusive wine-list and after working with many reps and top producers, Karl joined Imbibros in December 2009. Having succesfully passed the Intermediate WSET course he is currently studying for the Advanced Certificate. |
