Argentina is the most dynamic South American wine country, with many producers making exciting wines. The most important wine region in terms of both quality and volume produced is Mendoza, which lies opposite Santiago in Chile on the other side of the Andes. Like in Chile, the vineyards of Mendoza benefit from irrigation from the melt water of this imposing mountain range.
