Rather like Franz Klammer gliding over the Hannenkahm, Austrian wines succeed in seeming effortless, yet are technically brilliant. Fred Loimer makes tense, concentrated, very stylish wines, from small vineyard plots, in his contemporary winery in the village of Langenlois. His Riesling is deeply mineral with refreshing acidity.
