Beaune

The village of Beaune retains a medieval appearance and atmosphere and is full of monuments to its rich past. Most of the wine produced is red, and is produced by the negociant houses. Nearly three quarters of the vineyards are Premier Cru, with the finest sites lying between the town and Les Mondes Rondes hill. The wines are generally medium bodied and less meaty than those from Cote de Nuits, but also silkier with more berry fruit flavours. They act as a good introduction to Burgundy.
