The wines of Burgundy, home to two of the world’s noble grape varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, are particular passion of Imbibros.
Pinot Noir offers the grape grower and winemaker a unique challenge. It is susceptible to rot, temperamental and frankly bloody-minded, yet produces utterly sublime wines when treated to the best terroir and handled with sensitive skill. Burgundy remains the primary source of the most magnificent Pinot Noirs in the world, from silky Chambolle Musigny through to rustic, earthy Pommard.
The world is awash in bland formulaic Chardonnays, but in Burgundy you will find some of its finest expressions. From the clean and fresh lemony style of the everyday Macon wines through to the astonishing depth and complexity of the best Corton Charlemagne and Le Montrachet.
Tasting notes: From 50yo vines in the heart of Vaillons known as Sechet. This is the most forward of Billaud's premier crus with marvellous ripe, honeyed fruit and fresh lemony texture.
Tasting notes: The palate is fat and concentrated showing real complexity and super acidity. The finish is reminiscent of fresh, wild strawberries. This wine will last a very long time - and will be super. (The Burgundy Report 2004)
I was bowled-over by the quality of the 1995 Corton-Charlemagne, it is certainly the finest wine I have tasted from this famous estate. Beguiling aromas of red berries, vanilla, and traces of coconut are followed by a powerful punch of concentrated, extracted, and intense flavors. This gorgeous medium-to-full-bodied wine has a tightly wound "nugget" of red currants, almonds, hazelnuts, pears, and minerals in its silky-textured, extremely well-balanced, and admirably long character. It should be at its peak between 2002 and 2010. Bravo! 93pts RP

Tasting notes: 93 points Wine Spectator: "A focused beam, this white wraps its lime, mineral, apple and vanilla notes around a core of bracing acidity. Has intensity and balance, yet this is firm and crisp on the finish for now, with real stony length. Best from 2010 through 2030."
Tasting notes: Scents of fresh lime, heliotrope and white peach usher in a subtly-creamy yet persistently bright and juicy display of continued citrus, peach, and inner-mouth floral notes. Airy and elegant, this finishes almost delicately but tenaciously. 93/94 pts RP - WA
Tasting notes: In January 1998, Nicolas began to purchase fruit and post-fermentation lots of wine from prestigious domaines. His own relationships with growers and the legacy of his father helped open doors to some of the greatest domaines, even those who normally sell little or nothing except under their own label. As early as 2000, Clive Coates MW was writing that Nicolas "was already a super-star".

Tasting notes: Good full red. Sexy, complex but withdrawn nose offers an exhilarating sappy quality and an element of crushed stone. The most intense of these 2007s on the palate, with an enticing sweetness leavened by firm spine. The sappy cherry and soil flavors really vibrate in the mouth and on the very long and rather powerfully structured finish. Complex and complete.

Tasting notes: "Mild reduction knocks the nose down somewhat but the flavors are everything one looks for in Champans with the iron-infused, rich, full and powerful yet elegant and refined flavor profile that culminates in a tautly muscled, minerally and silky yet firm finish that delivers stunning length." 92-94 BH 04/09
Tasting notes: Bourgogne Blanc "les Sétilles" comes from a blend of vineyards in the villages of Puligny-Montrachet (60%) and Meursault (40%).The vineyard, in which we own certain parcels, adjoin communal appellations. The calcareous clay vineyards face southeast to south on flatter land. Thanks to our loyal suppliers for many years, this wine has been very successful, probably owing to the finesse and elegance it offers - a sign of its Cote d’Or origins.
Tasting notes: The terroir of Rully 1er Cru Rabourcé is situated on the upper slopes just behind this nice village enjoying an excellent exposure facing south, with a fairly white marble and limestone soil.
The composition of the soil is responsible for the elegance and finesse of these wines expressing floral and honey aromas with a hint of citrus.
This wine is one of the benchmarks of Olivier Leflaive.
