Our Champagne selection consists of several personal favourites, which offer a variety of styles and will grace any occasion. We are particularly proud of lovely "house" champagne Jacques Picard, a boutique producer based in the village of Berru on the south east slopes of the Montagne de Reims. We chose this champagne after tasting it blind against a substantial array of wines, most of which were far more highly priced. It excelled. A terrific champagne in a light but complex style.
Tasting notes: The latest addition to the Celebris portfolio is the just released Blanc de Blancs. A selection of the very best chardonnay from the four vintage of 1999, 1998, 1996, and 1995. A blend of 11 Grand and Premier Crus, this is the benchmark example of the Gosset house style. No malolactic fermentation which imparts greater freshness and longevity to the wine matched with a minimal dosage of just 3.5g/l which further highlights the quality of the fruit. The extended time on lees has built wonderful complexity and interest to the cuvee and is one to watch develop further in the cellar.
Tasting notes: One of the finest pink champagne you can find on the market it has been turning heads over heals for years. The appearance is of a pale pink, salmon like with a medium flow of thin bubbles. The palate is fresh yet intense with more red fruits and hints of spices such as cinnamon, this is made in a deliberately dry yet perfectly harmonious style.
Tasting notes: Tender yellow colour with hints of green gold, fine and abundant bubbles. Regular and intense cordon. Fresh apricots, pair and quince. Vine flower nose with a slightly honey backdrop. Rapid and persistent note of citrus fruit on aromas of apricot, mango and fresh fig. Delicate final flavour, dominated by a zest of lemon freshness.
Tasting notes: Light golden yellow, light bubbles. Intense and complex. Aromatic notes mixed with flowers (daffodil, linden flower) and fruits (cherry, blackberry, drying raisins) on a backdrop of roasted scents. Ample, vinous and concentrated. First aromas of dried fig and stuffed cherries and then very quickly aromas of grilled almonds and biscuit. Long and powerful flavour.
Tasting notes: A rose salmon colour, intense, brilliant and clear. Small red fruits (red current, raspberry, cherry), characteristic of Pinot Noir. Clear and vinous. Development of red fruit aromas (blackcurrant) on a spice backdrop (cinnamon). A fresh, lively and delicate flavour. Ideal balance between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Tasting notes: This is a blend of 60% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Meunier and 5% Pinot Noir. At least 30% of the blend is reserve wines and it has a minimum of 3 years bottle age before release. Great lemony, biscuity character with good length and incredible complexity for the price. Exceptionally good value champagne.
Tasting notes: Cristal 2002 is brilliant yellow with light amber highlights and has a beautiful mousse with fine cordon of persistent and regular bubbles. The nose is intense and delicate, revealing a clean and well-blended mixture of flavors of honey, cocoa, lightly toasted hazelnuts, candied citrus fruit. A savory explosion of ripe fruit on the attack, the wine reveals red fruit, white chocolate, caramel and Danish pastry, typical of Cristal. Its silky, concentrated texture relies on its intense, powerful and vinous structure, but maintains refinement. The palate builds up to attain a delicious sensation of well-blended harmony of flavors. A fresh finish with a hint of bitterness makes it almost crunchy.
Tasting notes: Roederer's Brut Premier is blended from two thirds Pinot and one third Chardonnay. Aged for 36 months prior to disgorgement and released only after a further 6 months in the cellars at Reims, Brut Premier is consistently rated as one of the finest non-vintage Champagnes.
Tasting notes: Made only in exceptional years, a blend of 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay, and aged for a minimum of four years in bottle prior to disgorgement.
