Appellation

Cheverny

Cheverny is a small appellation near Blois in Touraine. It was only raised to AOC status in 1993, this was largely through the efforts of growers such as M Delaille at Domaine du Salvard. The quality of the wines being produced warranted promotion. The wines from Salvard are better than many far more expensive Sancerres.

Wines from Cheverny

Producer: Domaine du Salvard
Wine: Cheverny 2008
Appellation: Cheverny
Region: Loire Country: France
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting notes: A Sauvignon dominated blend from the Loire with a touch of Chardonnay to add a little weight and spice. “Tingly, nervy and admirably fruity” according to Jancis Robinson MW, it is certainly better than many Sancerres that we have tried.
