The great majority of wineries are small scale boutique producers, and many are concentrated along a single land corridor just 15 minutes from Clare. It continues to be known as the home of Australian Riesling, having set the standard by which others measure their own excellence.
Tasting notes: The 2005 Shiraz “Samantha’s Garden” is from the Clare Valley. Purple-colored, it has a fragrant perfume of floral notes, violets, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. In an elegant style, it has layered ripe fruit, a velvety texture, well-integrated tannins and plenty of complexity on the mid-palate.
Tasting notes: A delicate elegant style, light bodied with bright nervy acidity. the palate shows hints of apple blossom, mineral characters, and cut flowers. This wine has excellent verve and intensity with long bone dry finish. Will age effortlessly for 15+ years.
