Coonawarra is one of the most famous red wine regions in Australia. Its weathered limestone terra rossa soils, relatively cool climate and overall water availability make it a superb vineyard area. The region is best known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, of which there are many sublime examples.
Tasting notes: A rich and powerful wine with layers of
concentrated blackberries, cassis, and plum flavours
supported by hints of menthol and fine grained
tannins. A focused and intense wine displaying
balance, elegance and a long and persistent finish.
It will effortlessly cellar for at least 10 years.
Tasting notes: A lively palate dominated by fresh and clean citrus fruits with an enticing mix of passionfruit, gooseberry, mineral tones and herbaceous traces creating complexity. This wine has elegance, texture and persistence with a crisp finish.
Tasting notes: This classy wine is almost black in colour, with a complex nose of blackberries and rich cassis.
This deep complexity carries over to the palate combining rich, juicy, plumminess and fruitcake characters. The finish is long and lingering with wonderful 'soft grain' tannins.
Tasting notes: "Deep, saturated ruby. Brooding cherry and cassis on the nose, with tobacco, minerals, espresso and herbs adding complexity. Tightly wound dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are sweetened by vanilla and given firm grip by dusty tannins. A tangy, focused wine with very good finishing lift and clarity. This could only be cabernet. 90 points"
