The Layon river is a tributary of the Loire. It has is own micro climate, sheltered from humidity from the Atlantic by the hills which rise up on each side of it, yet benefiting from mists which roll over the vineyards promoting the spread of noble rot. The sweet wines are made exclusively from Chenin Blanc. They can be gorgeously rich yet with cleansing acidity which prevents them from being cloying.
