This property was founded in 1953 by Jean-Louis Ferran. Today it is run by his grandsons Gilles and Nicolas. They have 40 hectares of vines in Rasteau and 7 hectares in Cairanne.

Tasting notes: 'La Ponce' Blanc is 40% Marsanne, 40% Rousanne with Clairette and Grenache Blanc. On the nose, there is an abundance of peach and apple with seductive floral tones. A very elegant wine with good length and texture that would pair nicely with rich white meat dishes or even spiced Asian cuisine.

Tasting notes: As the name suggests, this wine is made from vines planted back in 1924. It offers black fruit, kirsch and plum aromas. Whilst on the palate it is juicy, forward and approachable with wonderful deep and concentrated flavours. Drink 2010-12.

Robert Parker thinks it can compete with some of Chateauneuf's finest, though you'd never guess from the very sensible price! 91/100

Tasting notes: WA (88-90) Pts. - According to Robert Parker: More rustic, full-bodied and masculine with abundant notes of chocolate, roasted herbs, jus de viande and bouquet garni is the 2009 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau La Ponce. A big wine that still has tannins to resolve, it needs 1-2 years in the bottle and will drink well over the following decade.
