As a leading South African ambassador and one of the most recognizable faces in the world of sport, Ernie Els' life has mirrored a passion for excellence. This pursuit has been reflected in his exceptional sporting achievements. His focus, discipline and commitment have been the foundation of his success, and these factors are evident in his quest to produce premium wine. Befittingly Ernie chose Stellenbosch to produce his wines and in 1999, with the help of award-winning winemaker Louis Strydom, the concept of Ernie Els Wines was born. In 2000 the first grapes were crushed to produce the maiden vintage of Ernie Els Signature - a ‘classic’ Bordeaux blend. The marketing synergy between the wine and Ernie’s ‘classic’ golf swing were apparent. During 2004 a beautiful, 72-hectare property on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain was chosen and the home of Ernie Els Wines was established. A decade on since humble beginnings, this exciting venue now crafts a selection of impressive wines.

Tasting notes: Bright ruby red in colour. Red fruit aromas are prominent with hints of rose petals on the finish. A juicy, fruit driven wine with well integrated tannins and a light oak component adding complexity. An elegant wine that can be consumed at an early age.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2011. 3,325 cases made. 90 points"

Tasting notes: Producing a wine made up of five Bordeaux varieties to reflect the unique diversity of the Stellenbosch terroir. This wine, made by cellar master Louis Strydom, is Ernie Els's vision to produce an exceptional wine, reflecting their respective commitment to quality.

The different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot are kept separate (micro-vinified) throughout vinification. Vinified in 300 litre French oak barrels for 20 months, the wine underwent bottle maturation for a further 18 months. This wine is made in a full robust style and has the potential to age.

Drink now through 2020.
