The crux of this property is La Grand Rue vineyard. This is a Lamarche monopole sandwiched between La Tache and Romanee Conti, sharing the same soil and aspect as its illustrious neighbours. In recognition of the superb terroir, the vineyard was upgraded to Grand Cru in 1991, but the quality of viticulture and vinification took a little longer to catch up. With the human aspects now reformed, the quality is back on the mark. Lamarche now offers wines of terrific stature at what are, by Grand Cru standards, excellent prices.
