Jacques Picard

A boutique producer, Jacques Picard is a third generation Champagne vigneron based in the village of Berru on the south east slopes of the Montagne de Reims. He has just 17 hectares of vines in three choice sites, Avenay, Montbre and Berru. We chose this champagne after tasting it blind against more famous and more expensive wines. It was our unanimous favourite of the tasting and we have chosen it as our house champagne.

Tasting notes: This is a blend of 60% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Meunier and 5% Pinot Noir. At least 30% of the blend is reserve wines and it has a minimum of 3 years bottle age before release. Great lemony, biscuity character with good length and incredible complexity for the price. Exceptionally good value champagne.
