Jenkyn Place Vineyard

Jenkyn Place Vineyard is a small and exclusive estate situated in idyllic countryside with gentle, south-facing slopes that straddle the 100m contour of the North Downs in Hampshire.

The vineyard has been created with excellence in mind and has been designed and planted to produce top-quality English sparkling wines.

The first 1,700 vines were planted at Jenkyn Place in 2004 with more vines planted every year since. The vineyard currently extends to fourteen acres and has 15,000 vines consisting of a mix of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes - the classic varieties of the Champagne region. Different clones and rootstocks of each wine variety have been selected in order to ensure interesting and complex wines.

Jenkyn Place’s first harvest was in 2006 and the Jenkyn Place Brut 2006 went on to win a bronze medal at the English and Welsh Wine of the Year Competition in July 2009. A further release of the 2006 vintage which had the benefit of longer on the lees went on to win a trophy at the Wessex Vineyard Association Wine of the Year Competition

We are now pleased to announce that following its entry into the International Wine and Spirit Competition, Jenkyn Place Brut 2007 has been awarded a bronze medal for it's new release!

Producer: Jenkyn Place Vineyard
Wine: Jenkyn Place Sparkling Rose 2008
Region: Country: England
Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
Tasting notes: Beautifully pale and coral pink in colour, this wine pleases before it's even opened. The nose is refined with loads of fresh cherry & raspberry fruit. The palate a very elegant, ripe red fruits (Pinot) with a long, dry savory finish coming from the two & half years spent 'on the lees'. A very elegant and sophisticated dry rose, very much on a par with the best rose Champagnes at a much more favorable price. (Mr Blaydon decided not too charge a premium for this recently released rose, despite the extra cost in producing it).
