Over 95% of Meursault production is white. It would seem that the soil, which is high in limestone is not suited to the red grape. The village is large by Cote de Beaune standards and plays host to the third of the Trois Glorieuses feasts on the Monday after the Hospices de Beaune auction. Good Meursault is gorgeous fat with nutty apple and peach fruit, topped with butterscotch and toasted brioche.
