Nuits Saint Georges is a large and probably the best known commune of the Cote de Nuits. The commune is split north/south by the top of the Meuzin valley. Its western vineyards tend to produce the village wines and the eastern the Premier Cru. Below the Meuzin stream the vines stretch into Premeaux but these wines may still carry the Nuits Saint George appellation. Classic Nuits has a strong backbone and a powerful gamey nature.
Tasting notes: A fine vintage from Faiveley's 15-acre monopole, this wine is tight, transparently simple and fresh. The flavors are gentle and round, with lovely red fruit. A perfect match for seared duck breast.
