Penedes is the largest appellation in Catalonia in north east Spain. It produces a diverse range of wines, following the lead of Miguel Torres who in the 1970’s planted grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer alongside native varieties. Cava has its own appellation within Penedes.
Tasting notes: An absolute favourite which is full to bursting with animated citrus fruit
Xarel.lo is indigenous to Spain. Here it's unoaked with a fine seam of crisp acidity and come the sunshine, this is one of the most enlivening dry white wines we know. Very good indeed.
