Pomerol is home to Chateau Petrus, a remarkable wine which is 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Most Pomerols are at around 80% Merlot. In good years and from good vineyards, the wines are big plumy, chocolatey, spicy seducers. Most Pomerols can be enjoyed in their youth, even if they can benefit from long ageing.
