The Bouvier family has owned vineyards in the village of Marsannay at the northernmost boundary of the Côte de Nuits for four generations. The domaine is now managed by Bernard Bouvier, a thoughtful yet dynamic man who is dedicated to marrying the traditions of Burgundy to the benefits of modern viticulture and vinification.

Bernard Bouvier is certainly one of the most promising winemakers of the Cote de Nuits. Managing an estate that is scattered over 6 villages and 20 different appellations, he has succeeded in reversing the practices imposed by his parents at the end of the 1980s. The harvesting machine is now stowed away in the garage, chemical treatments of vines are banned and vineyard yields are limited.

Vinification is carried out in a way that showcases the character of the terroir, with particularities retained. Bernard's efforts have recently come to the attention of wine critics yet he continues to go his own way, out of the limelight, while producing some of Burgundy's best wines.
