Rueda is an ancient wine area lying between Madrid and Leon in Castile Leon. In modern times it rose to prominence after Bodegas Marqués de Riscal of Rioja started to make and sell a fresh dry Rueda white alongside its Rioja reds. The best whites tend to be made from a blend of Viura and Verdejo.
